A Deeply Fractured US

Like her role on Jan 6th.

I'm sorry, did you mean her "as of the date of January 6th", meaning speaker of the house? Or were you Implying that she had some actual involvement in actively and purposefully creating the insurrection on January 6th?

Obviously she had no role creating the riot. Her role was to ensure the venue was properly secured.

Fugitive Trump’s attempt to flee to Mexico thwarted by big wall

I now return you to serious political discussion.

I'll wait til Congress properly investigates it under the rules. Not a stacked and biased ad hoc committee CNN side show.

It's an uncontroversial widely accepted fact among US pundits that the commission made a point of avoiding going deeply into the security arrangements. That's part of what reveals it to have been a completely orchestrated political show - they didn't inquire into some of the things that such a body ought reasonably to have inquired into. They weren't interested in conducting the kind of investigation that asks "what went wrong" and "what can we do better next time".

It was just another hit job on Trump. They wanted to create enough contoversy that they could get the DOJ involved. DOJ didn't take the bait. They found according to their preconceived result. False, scripted narratives. Radical democrats and RINOs. They ultimately failed all around. Now that all the footage is out there in public, they'll be seen as the spiteful liars they are. That shaman guy was released to a halfway house after America saw the raw footage that Carlson aired. Right now Congress has its plate full with more important things and bigger fish to fry. They been in power three months. Let them find their feet. They'll get around to it, or not. Ultimately the Jan 6 commission proved nothing against Trump. Pelosi failed. Cheney failed. Trump offered Pelosi the National Guard. She turned it down. She needed the diversion.

Do you have any idea how the justice system works? What you just said makes absolutely zero sene.

First, all footage would have been available to both the prosecution and defence when Jacob Chansley was tried.

Second, even if new footage was found, they wouldn't have simply "moved him to a halfway house" without do process (i.e. there would have to have been some sort of official appeal to the courts, which we have NOT seen.)

Maybe he was moved because of existing laws surrounding the sentence of non-violent criminals, such as:

“I [Shipley - lawyer] told him in November 2021 that he was likely to be released in February 2023,” Shipley said.
Shipley highlighted credit Chansley received through the First Step Act and his participation in the Bureau of Prison’s Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) which, upon completion, can reduce the sentence of non-violent offenders by up to one year.

"At the time of his sentencing, Chansley had already served more than 300 days, or approximately 11 months, in pretrial detention. Under the First Step Act, he was eligible for up to 54 days of good time credit for each year of his sentence – or five months or more in Chansley’s case."

"Under a provision of the Second Chance Act signed by former President George W. Bush, federal inmates are routinely released to residential reentry programs or halfway houses to serve up to the final six months of their sentences."

But, no, you're probably right, despite him admitting to all of the alleged crimes, it's all just a conspiracy and the democrats got caught so they are quietly letting the not-actually-very-guilty Jan 6th insurrectionists out. That makes wayyyy more sense.

Of course it does, based on Tucker "'general tenor' of the show should then inform a viewer that [Carlson] is not 'stating actual facts' about the topics he discusses and is instead engaging in 'exaggeration' and 'non-literal commentary.'"* Carlson's raw footage.

*Quoted from Fox News lawyers, I might add.

After everything that has emerged about various investigations, why would it be difficult for any reasonable person to believe that some of what happens in the "justice system" is politically motivated, done to either bring heat to bear or to remove it?

Short sightedness, ignorance and TDS

Chansley's lawyer denied that they had the footage that emerged recently.
Lol. What a nothingburger.

So THAT lawyer:
1. Made this claim on Tucker Carlson, which has been established by FOX's own lawyers to be entertainment only and full of falsehoods and not reliable "news". On no other news site did this lawyer make this claim; and
2. That lawyer got fired by Chansley, and his new laywers appealed the conviction on the grouds that:
... Watkins failed to adequately represent him and the lack of representation led to the outcome of his case.
