Hi All,
First of all i would like to thank you for taking the time to read my post. Second, i really didn't want to start a new topic, but my questions are a little bit unique( not all of them thought ) and after having read the majority of the related topics, i could not find any clear answer to them.
I will be eligible to apply for DEO as of October this year, i am 30 years old, 3rd year UBC Computer Science student and my primary trade of choice is Pilot, followed by Air Nav, and MARS also sounds very interesting.
The closer i am getting to get my citizenship, the more i feel obligated to this amazing country and the more i feel the urge to do something to serve this new home of mine. I have been reading a lot about the Canadian Forces, how I can join to serve, and which trade I would like to choose. After doing some research I found out that since I will be a foreign born Canadian citizen by the time I will be eligible to apply( I was born in Iran, by then I will have lived in Canada for slightly more than 3 consecutive years and I have my mother and sister living in my country of birth ), part of Enhanced Reliability Check depends on how cooperative the government of Iran is with regards to providing Canadian authorities with necessary information and frankly I am not quite sure if they will cooperate at all. Now I would be really grateful if any of you troopers who happens to be willing to help this aspiring candidate could kindly answer my following questions:
1) my primary question/concern is if there has been anyone in my situation that has managed to get the required clearance and whether or not there have been successful Iranian-born candidates that are now serving in the CF. If so, how long would the process approximately take, and if there is any thing I can do to accelerate the security clearance process?
2) Assuming that I pass the Enhanced Security Check, Is there any chance for an old fart like me to make it to become a Pilot in Canadian Forces? I mean, what is the average age for Pilot candidates?
3) My blood pressure has always been 130is/70ish with the rest heart rate around 60. Is my BP going to be a problem? ( I have 20/20 vision, and very athletic, if i can say so myself!!!!!
)
I greatly appreciate any help in advance
Cheers
