During a town hall meeting the PM stated that 500 troops would continue to stay in Afganistan. He didn‘t specify how long though.

I wonder if Martin was referring to Canadian participation in a PRT (Provincial Reconstruction Team). If so, this would go a long way towards extending the influence of the Karzai gov‘t beyond Kabul, something that will have to happen in order for Afghanistan to achieve true stability.

I wonder if it‘s another rotation, or some Vandoos get to stay.

No one will get to stay or get an extension to their ROTO, it‘s just the way of things. A new bunch will go in.

Regards

I couldn‘t find the article, but apparently the roto beginning in Afghanistan now is the last one; it is being replaced by a multi-national force from Europe.

I seen the same said article that stated Eurocorps will take over the command and sigs side of the ISAF mission.

So that will leave a Cdn battle group to go over tarting in the summer. Can‘t see it being limited to 500. That would suggest 150 or so (one company or Sqn) cbt arms and remainder Cnadian NSE and such...
