Would I be able to switch from active duty to reserves after a couple years of service?

When asking questions on the site, it is best to use Canadian accepted terms for the most accurate answers.

I assume you are asking is it easy to switch between Regular Force (RegF) to Primary Reserve (PRes), after a short service in the RegF?

Answer: It depends on your terms of service when you join, generally speaking:
- If you join for a bonus, then you must serve the years agreed to.
- If you join for an education, then you must sereve the years agreed to.
- If you join straight in, then normally you are offered a BE, or three year contract.
Finish that and you can chose not to resign for a new contract.

Your question has been asked multiple times on this site.
Searching would have provided your answer.

When you begin the release process at the end of your Regular Force contract there is a form that you can check a box that says you wish to transfer in to the Primary Reserves(other options as well).  You will have to do some leg work and find a Reserve unit that is willing to take you, and fill out another form(with unit name, position number, etc). If you want to change trades as well as go Reserve the process gets more complicated/time consuming.

Sorry for using the wrong terminology, I live in america and am not so familiar with Canadian terminology. But my dad is Canadian and my grandparents still live there, I have had relatives who were in the Canadian army, so I wish to serve as an infantry soldier within the next five years. And I will be able to do so because of dual citizenship.

a) You need to utilize the site's search function. I bet this issue, or variations thereof, have been discussed before

b) contact a Recruiting Center. Google is your friend - you could even call one up

c) Good luck - your ambition is admirable.
