For the past two months I have been trying to get quotes from metal fabricators in Montreal for the construction of this (http://startingstrength.com/index.php/site/equipment#rack). So far the only quote I have received is for $1,650 with a five week delivery.
I know that I can not compare Montreal labour/material prices to other cities/countries, yet members of the Starting Strength (http://startingstrength.com) community in the US have had these made anywhere from $350 to $600 USD. A UK job cost 300 GBP.
As I have no metal fabrication or welding experience, I was wondering if someone had any suggestions as to what to look for, if they knew anyone capable of manufacturing the rack, or other clever ideas (apart from a wooden squat rack)?
