Advice needed from pilots

I am an OCdt in the ROTP program with one year left in school at the University of Western Ontario.  I've finished IAP/BOTP, and I'm in an aviation program from which I will leave with my multi/commercial/IFR pilot license/ratings.  At this point I very much want to fly tac-hel but I wanted to get some opinions/advice from pilots who have experience in Griffin sqns (particularly those who are not in SAR, but those are welcome too).  How does it compare to being in a fixed wing?  More exciting?  What is the life like?  Any input would be welcome.

This one was left un-replied to and I would love to get some input from any pilots.  I also have some more specific questions in mind.  I'm looking for answers from fixed wing (aurora, f18 or herc) heli (tac hel, SAR, sea kings/cyclones)
or anything else really.

What I'm looking for is:  What is the crew environment like?  What are the hours like?  Chances of deployment?  What does deployment entail?  How is downtime spent generally?  What are conditions like on your deployments?  How many flight hours do you average on a, say, monthly basis?  I will add anything else I can think of.  I would also welcome responses from crew, not just pilots.

There is an Airforce section to Milnet.ca that is dedicated to these exact questions.

Most of your questions, if not all, have already been addressed in other threads. Try the Search Function.

There is only one Griffin Squadron - mine (400 Squadron). There are several squadrons that fly Griffons, however.
