Bruce Rolston at Flit reports an important fact the MSM have not.

Other news you didn't read today

It's been three months and a day since the last Canadian fatality in Afghanistan. Again, no streak like this can last forever, and the winter pause in Taliban ops had a lot to do with it (the mountains should be navigable again in about two weeks or so) but it has been a notable run.

Just like a month ago:

Canadian Afghanistan update you didn't read

In the "News you didn't read in your weekend papers" column, it has been over two months since the last Canadian fatality in Afghanistan.

No, it's not going to last forever. Let's hope it lasts as long as possible, though.

Maybe the TB has learned not to Frak with Canadians? OR our troops are getting smarter and more watchful?

Or maybe it's the slow season and it's cold (being relative to this country anyway)......Yeah I think I'm right. When it warms up things will change. Plus the Brits are still getting it hard in Helmad ,I think that is stripping some fighters away from this area. And lets be clear NO casulties does not mean no Action....It just means we havent been hurt yet.

The US,Britain, and Spain have all taken casualties during this timeframe. We are lucky that one of ours has not fallen recently so don't lull yourself into thinking we are safe. The battles are far from over and spring is coming. Let's pray for the luck of the Irish to all NATO soldiers currently in Afghanistan.  :cdnsalute:

Amen to that.  Here's hoping that the MSM reports fairly on our lads: I have no doubt in my mind that they will do a stellar job.  :cdn:

Oddly, The Economist does note this reality--and a more fundamental one:

But it is the rising number of Canadian soldiers being killed in Afghanistan that is most likely to determine whether voters eventually choose to see the job through. Since the first troops arrived in 2002, 44 soldiers and a diplomat have lost their lives. The most recent deaths were recorded in November. But with analysts predicting a new offensive by Taliban insurgents when the snow melts this spring, the already wavering home front may be further tested.

No, we (the CF we) have just been lucky.

Thanks for jinxing it.

It's not the fun season yet, we've been lucky, it would be nice if it stayed that way...

Being raised on some superstitions of the "old country", I remember this:

This is marvelous (as long as it lasts).....

Good luck to all, and keep up the great work!

3 Months with no casualties I'll drink to that .

But you know I haven't herd allot in the news as of late about Afghanistan, except one CTV report on a school over there.

Fellas

I can't believe you guys are talking about this on here, I'm siding with St Mikes Med Team, your jinxing our good luck we have going on right now. Its kinda like hockey (except on alot more serious note) and talking about a shut-out in the last 5 minutes of a game. Anyhow maybe thats just me being superstitious but..........................hope the good fortunes continue.

Everyone find the nearest wood and start knocking now..... >:(
