After you get the offer....?

I am currently waiting for a 032 slot as a DEO candidate. The board is meeting later this week (October 15th) and offers should be made within the next two weeks.

I have a couple of questions posted with the modest caveat that I am offered a slot.

1. I noticed that some infantry guys mention that their offer is with specific regiment... If I get an offer will they tell me what my "home base" will be while I wait for courses? I realize that I will have several OJT tours, but will my offer say that I am attached to a particular wing or squadron while I wait?

2. Has anyone been on the payroll with while they were waiting for BOTC? I know that once you are signed on you are placed on Leave without Pay(??)- My current contract my employer ends November 5th, is there a possibility to do "busy work" either in CFRC or a local regiment while I wait for BOTC? (My employer is shy about extending my contract after November because he is aware of my pursuits with DND). If it is possible, how do you pursue it?

3. I realize the date you sign on, your career begins (Pension start date) but does your other benefits start i.e. medical, insurance etc...


I hope these are not ridiculous questions or have been asked before. Thanks in advance.

I think it's only the infantry where they choose there regiment, because me I was told that at the end of my training they will send where they need one.
