Can some one tell me why the RCMP can not wear their wings. There is quite a few who have left the Military to join the RCMP. The Armed Forces and the RCMP are both  Federal .

no idea all the jumpers i know in the rcmp[3] wear them on their scarlets with all the medals they have been awarded

I've seen jump wings, dive dolphins, and pilots wings.....who gave you this info?

My buddy is a freshly minted Mountie and I know he wears his Jump Wings along with his gongs.

I know Mounties who wear them (local LE too...)

I know two guys with the EPS (Edmonton) who wear their wings on their service? (daily) work uniform.

Lest there be some confusion, the parachutist and paratrooper wings are DECORATIONS, not just pins.

They are qualification badges. The CD is a decoration.

If they were qualification badges, they could not be taken away. Once a qualification is obtained, it is permanent. It can become obsolete, or no longer be current, but cannot be stripped.

If you refuse to parachute, you lose your wings, although you maintain the qualification, as you passed the course.

I've seen people refuse to jump, and refuse posting to the CAR/Para Coy's and still retain theirs...

According to A-AD-265, CANADIAN FORCES DRESS INSTRUCTIONS, the CF parachute wings are called "SPECIALIST SKILL BADGES". Decorations are part of the Honours and awards, of which the Wings are not part.

I've been working out hbere in Vancouver with the VPD and I've seen lots of the Queens Cowboys wearing their jump wings on their tunics. Some of our guys wear their wings on their tunics aswell.

Hey Blueboy!

Is Dan 'Suds' Sutherland still with VPD?

Do you mean the scarlets, by 'tunics'? I got out in 94, and through out the LMD, it was against uniform regs to wear 'skills' badges on the patrol uniform. I remember Dan going on about how a 'real' police force would allow it!  ;)

Yet another reason VPD was better!

Uuuhhhh, okay....

There is an ERT badge for ERT members that can be worn on the Red Serge, I would think it would be the same as jump wings.  Former ERT members are not going to take the badge off their Serge if they are not actively on a team anymore.

Same same Kevin
There was nothing in the regulations about removing wings if you refused a posting to CAR. It was more of an attempted act of humiliation of those who recanted their voluntary reassignment contract to CAR on completion of their jump crse. Some of those who persisted in still wearing the red wings seemed to spend alot more time on the duty cpl/duty NCO list. In order to go on basic para course you had to fill out and sign the "Letter of Application For Basic Para Course and Consent To Serve In The CAR" just happen to have mine framed on the wall. Chain of command comments remind me of what a nice professional I can be.
