And the attacks on Red Friday from the left have started...

It amazes me that I would risk my life for these people and that risking theirs is the absolute farthest thing from their minds!

Thats just way it is in a democracy. Not much you can do about it really.

With the exception of Canada Day, this may have been the largest rally on parliament hill in the last 10 years. Much more coverage was given to the anti-bush rally (11/30/04) to which only a couple of thousand people attended. The media has its own agenda and if it weren't for the internet, would be a true threat to our democracy.

IIRC the support rally after 9/11 was huge and very emotional.  It takes a democracy for the media to even have an agenda.

The CBC can push it's agenda, we can push ours. Blogburst this: http://www.officiallyscrewed.com/blog/?p=491 Go to left wing blogs and add the link to their comments section. ;D ;D ;D

The Rally is divided into seven segments: Part Two is Gen Hillier's speech, and Part Three is PM Steven Harper's speech.

The problem is that the Left controls the media in this country. The CBC is a propaganda machine for the left. As is the Toronto and Vancouver Sun and the list goes on.

I don't know about the Left Coast, but the Toronto Sun has always been pretty fair and conservative IMO.  Did you mean the Toronto Star?

Wow,
I have just read some of the utter crap they are pushing on that first link....my stomach is turning and my head hurts.... I sit here in utter disbelief and I want to vomit.

Yes. Indeed. The Toronto star. Canada's biggest newspaper, with a weekly circulation of 3,236,655. The Toronto Star, CTV, and CBC are on an anti-conservative crusade. The media outlets in this country know that a large portion of the electorate do not actively inform themselves of the truth. Most people rely on what soundbites are flashed at them even if those sound bits take multiple shots in the proverbial groin of our service men and women.

The CBC can push it's agenda, we can push ours

The difference is that we are pushing a shopping cart and they are pushing a Nimitz class US Navy aircraft carrier.

It takes a democracy for the media to even have an agenda.

It takes a dictatorship and tyranny also.

Ownership of media in Canada is more concentrated than in any other western democracy.

Having read that link at rabble, and reading unionist's post, I.....I.....I think I'm going to be sick  :-X

Now THAT is being pretty generous!

Since CBC is government owned, couldn't the Gov just choose to privatize it and let them get by on their own?  Perhaps they would get bought by another company.  Like Fox.  >:D

We can only hope. I would take the billion per year for the CBC and put it into military equipment.

Is the cbc really a billion per year?  When then, would they complain that our involvement in A'stan, from 2001 to 2009 will cost an estimated 3.9 billion?  That is much less than a billion a year!  (let me see, doing math in my head now, so....2009-2001=8 years.  Roughly 4 billion, that equals half of a cbc per year!)  But, to the cbc's credit, they do have Rex Murphy!  And not all press on the CPC and the current PM are negative.

That was just an exaggeration. I don't know the exact figures. Maybe somebody does. But any amount is too much. Although I do agree that their website articles seem more fair. The  one on Red Friday was good.

Actually if reilly didn't know it he got lucky.  The CBC is funded to the tune of a billion a year.  (937 million from the government in 2005 plus an additional 547 million from other sources including advertising)

http://cbc.radio-canada.ca/annualreports/2004-2005/pdf/financial_e.pdf.

Next time reilly check your own facts before making a statement such as you did.

Cheers and your welcome.

Thanks, Kirkhill. I heard it was that much on the radio, but couldn't believe it was correct, nor did I have time to confirm with a second source. A billion dollars is a lot of money. I still find it difficult to believe.

I do not know what is worse being sworn to defend that, the NDP (Taliban Jack), or the BLOC who wants to destroy our country. Oh well we are here to defend democracy not practice it.

For anyone who was not able to make it to the Hill here is a decent video of the event. I hope to see many more events like "Red Friday" and I was very encouraged by the support for the troops that I witnessed there.

Now listen to the sound of my shoes! I am very proud to be Canadian! Go CF!
