Okay. This is my [last] question/s ever! I've figured out everything else I need to know to make an informed decision about the Forces though I won't be making that decision for some time I imagine. :)

How far do they take the concept of "one CF"? I'm mainly interested in the Army. I wouldn't have a problem serving in an Air Force environment, but I'm not keen on spending months away onboard a Naval ship. (I'm not saying I wouldn't do it, I just wouldn't like it as much as being on dry land.)

I mean, I may find that I love it once I get there, but in the mean-time I'd be dragging my feet.

If I'm in an element-neutral MOS (Med Tech, Sig Op, Comms Research, etc.) do I have any choice regarding which element I am/am not placed with?

If you are in a "purple" trade you will be given the opportunity to request specific postings, but the needs of the service come first.

I'll just add one small point to what dapaterson said;  in those MOCs that are purple, the DEU (Army, Air Force or Navy) does not equate to the Envionment you will serve in.  A RMS Clerk in an Air Force uniform could potentially never be posted to an Air Force base, and an 'Army' Supply Tech could be posted to a Wing and then to a Navy base after finishing training.

Perfect, thanks. And just for those who don't know, "purple" refers to a job that is available in two or more elements.

Ah, I see. Thank you for the information. I'll keep that in mind :)

I too was informed at my interview that although i am signed up as an "Army" SigOp i could end up in either the navy or air force depending on needs and requirements. The only difference being i'll be in army greens while there.

Cheers.
