>:( So it looks like I'm stuck with this Coy signaler job until we change OCs and they like me to wear the headset with the 522 instead of just keeping the handset next to my ear on the harness.

Thing is, I got a great-big head and the strap doesn't stay on.

Now short of jury-rigging the cobra headset to my helmet straps, already poo-pooed, what are my options?

Can I get a bigger head-strap online somewhere?

Best I can think of is get a short strip of velcro and use that as an extender for the velcro straps on the headset.  I haven't seen anyone that wasn't able to wear that headset,  so I don't really have any proven solutions.

You're talking about that weenie black one eared microphone thingy?  Go get one of the green two eared jobbies that's made to wear over a helmet, use the active noise reduction on it and you should be good to go.

Tough part will be to find one of those in a batallion..

You're talking about the vehicle crew headsets? You shouldn't be using those off the faceplate of the radio. Especially with the Noise reduction on, you'll get a hell of a lot of feed back. IIRC due to lack of power from those ports.

This looks like your best bet. I wouldn't be using the green vehicle headsets off the faceplate for anything other than loading crypto. Probably end up blowing out the port off the faceplate and wearing that thing for dismounted ops would be awful.

Roger.

I wasn't too sure about the power requirements as I've always used them in vehicle.  It's the only option I could thing of that would be anything near comfortable unless he went with the PRR adapter that puts a pass through and allows the PRR headset/PTT combo to be used with a 522 set?

That would definitely work, but I think if he has size issues with the cobra headset, he'd probably end up with the same for the PRR headset.

I think everyone has the same idea:

I hadn't thought of the velcro thing.

The vehicle headset I have seen, but I doubt I'd get away with that, even if it worked.
