Nope. Never missed it.   ;D
l feel obligated to stereotype you and challenge your manhood at this point,YOU ARE NOT A TRUE CANADIAN THEN! ;D

There's a difference between watching a good game of shinny or paying $20.00 for a hotdog and beer to watch some overpaid prima donnas. Canadian enough for ya  ;)

It was a long, long time ago. Think the star's name was something like "the Rocket" or some such. :)

I agree with ya recce, really its just a game these guys are playing, both the owners AND the players just don't get it though, without the fans they ain't got jack!
The prices are horrendous, especially tickets.
[edit]But really, if the prices of concessions and tickets went down, would you go back/start attending more games?(that is of course if your in or close to an NHL franchise  ;) ?) [/edit]

Nope. Between the previous years gouging and pouting, they've lost any admiration, loyalty or respect. I won two cherry playoff tickets a few years ago and sold them rather than go watch. I'd rather spend my money on the Pistons than the Wings, if I were to bother.

I hear ya, I'm a "self proclaimed" die-hard fan, but after this years fiasco they just might loose my bucks as well.

Good.  Now maybe we can collapse the NHL and start a proper hockey league without pouty multimillionaire players, teams in places where hockey is a no go (Tampa, Phoenix, etc) and the rest of the crap.  Pro hockey in Canada should be organised along CFL lines.

Not saying it's a bad thing the season's gone, but how many fans will come back with a new league? How many will even care it's a new league?

All I know is that I'm missing the hockey, bad as it was  :'(...

I can't believe it. I was sure the season was done up until a couple of days ago. Then the Union accepted the idea of a cap, leading most (I think) to believe that it was just a matter of finding the right number, and we'll have hockey.

What I don't get is this: all along, the Union has said, 'A Salary Cap in any form is a non-starter for us. No way will we play under a cap'...then, at the last minute they do a 180 and say, "Oh, we'll play under a cap if it's $52 million....or maybe $49 million." I bet that Goodenow figured the owner's would cave in the end...he was wrong. What an idiot. Had he relented in the beginning, or even last week, they would have had the time to bridge the gap. What a tool. Bettman's no better. The ultimatum he gave was arrogant and childish. Had he not been such a dick, maybe the union would not have dug in their heels.

I hope the owners CRUSH the NHLPA.   :rage:

I REALLY miss hockey.   :(

I miss hockey..........but hey, life will go on...........

As for Bettman and Goodenow, I think they should both be fired. That wasn't a negotiation whatsoever!!!! It was bs! You can't have 2 power hungry individuals butting heads and not doing anything about it. One of them has to go............or in this case, both of them.

As for replacement players.........bring them on. It is the team I cheer for not the players wearing the jersey.

Found this on the web...

A year in time ago...
I can still remember
How that game used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those fighters dance
And, maybe, they'd be happy for a while.

But February 16 made me shiver
With every paper I'd deliver.
Bad news on the doorstep;
I couldn't take one more step.

I can't remember if I cried
When I read about the lack of pride,
But something touched me deep inside
The day hockey died.

So bye-bye, hockey on saturday nights.
Drove my zamboni to the rink,
But the rink was dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin?, "this'll be the day the NHL died.
"this'll be the day the NHL died."
