Application Process Samples [ 2019-present]

Thank you for the link. It explains a lot! So if your training is split between module 1 and 2, you may take a whole year to complete BMOQ (it says 2 consecutive summers)?
The only people that do that are first year reg force ROTP, possibly just those attending RMC.
For RMC, part 1 of basic, then 4 weeks of first year orientation program (FYOP), then first year of school, then second part of basic.
Then start OJT, have some leave, trades training, all depending on your occupation. Then back for 2nd year. Rinse and repeat until university is done.

That makes sense! Thank you!

Nice to see all these ~6 month apps getting through.

Much better than the previous 18 months we were often seeing since covid.

Congratulations, definitely update us when selected and enrolled!

CFRC: Halifax
Regular/Reserve: RegF
Officer/NCM: DEO
Trade Choice 1: Pilot
Trade Choice 2: ACSO <---
Applied: ~8yrs ago
CFAT: ~8yrs ago
Medical: Long story;

Application was paused due to newly developing medical concerns. Diagnosed with a cardiomyopathy.
Years later, ~2022, reapplied not knowing how the CAF would view a cardiomyopathy.
Completed the interview, was sent for CFAST, passed for all.
RMO swiftly kicked me down for CEMS (duhhh)

Immediately got on the horn with my heart specialist to get a slew of tests redone (last tests were ~5yrs prior)
Results come back clear, was sorta kinda told that our cMRI's weren't of adequate definition when I was first scanned all those years prior, and that it's likely I never should have been diagnosed with the cardiomyopathy to begin with.

Submit all documents for appeal early Jan. 2024, RMO all clears 2 week later! (not for pilot though, they still have reservations about the whole heart thing regarding just that trade)

Interview: Redone March 6, 2024
Medical Approved: Redid med. tests that expired 1yr, April 8, 2024
Air Factor: A2, May 9, 2024
Reliability Status: June 5, 2024
Final Processing: June 20, 2024
Competition List: Aug 21, 2024
Selected: Aug 23, 2024
Position Offered: Aug 28, 2024
Enrollment: Sept 18, 2024
BMOQ: 10E, Oct 14th, 2024

Unreal how slow the burn felt while in the midst of the application process. But reflecting back, the last few stages were rapid fire and I'm so impressed with the rate they got things moving!

Looking forward to BMOQ, and excited for where this career takes me!

Wow ! What an interesting journey.

Much respect to you for trying again, I'm sure many people stumbling on this in the future in a similar situation will find some solace in your story.

It is crazy how it feels so long waiting between phases, then you look back at it like "wow, that was fast", isn't it !?

I appreciate that, it was very demotivating when hit with the medical rejection. But for anyone, if there's even an inkling of a chance to an appeal, I say go for it!

Honestly, it feels grating as you go through the motions of emailing/calling, checking the online portal and seeing no movement. But really, things were going at a good pace lol.

Just surround yourself with supportive people and find a hobby, it'll be done when it's done.

Regular/Reserve: Regular
Officer/NCM: Officer
Trade: LogO (I also applied for Bio Sci which I was not chosen for, unfortunately)
Application date: October 19th, 2023
First contact:
  • October 31st, 2023: Follow-Up email regarding my application - was told there was an application wait time and to follow up in January if I hadn't heard anything yet
  • January 29th, 2024: Second Follow-up email regarding my application - no reply
  • October 31st, 2023 - March 19th, 2024: No movement or contact
  • March 19th, 2024 - Discovered my application had been closed, so I sent an inquiry email - my application was looked into and reopened by national(?) (whoever answers the application inquiry forms you fill out on the website), however, I was told to contact my local recruiting centre for the rest of my application
  • March 19th - April 26th - Emails to my local recruiting centre went unanswered (maybe my email ended up in the spam folder? I'm unsure), so I ended up emailing a different recruiting centre not too far away and they were able to take on my application - this is where my application actually starts moving.
CFAT: May 15th, 2024
Medical: Medical exam (Had to talk to eye doctor and fill out a form)
Interview: June 27th, 2024
Reliability approved: July 5th, 2024
Competition list: July 6th
Position offered: August 16th, 2024
Enrollment: October 2024
BMOQ: November 2024

My application timeline was slightly different than others as mine ended up closed for some reason or another.

As to not give out too much private info I am a Canadian citizen, born and raised.

I did call many times to follow up on your application. I didn't include phone calls as I didn't record exact dates and also most of the phone calls were related to the email topics above
