I have been looking for a while on these forums for an answer to my question but I keep reading different opinions.

As we all know, the new fiscal year opens in April and alot of positions will be opening up. Is every-one going to be on a first come first serve basis come april or are there people who already have applications in waiting for spots to open. Reason I ask is because I submitted an application a few months ago and within a week or so, I was contacted by email telling me that the trades I had applied for were closed and my file was being closed.

I keep reading about people on these forums who talk about people or themselves having their applications in and waiting for spots but I'm wondering how that is possible if they are just closing applications upon receiving them?

Theres a "waiting list", there are many people who have applied before you and are still being processed, I applied Nov of 09' and still waiting. You can say its on a first come first serve basis. Your application will just be the same as everyone else's : put in the line.

*BUT* if they have the space and opportunity, the CFRC will try their best to process you as much as possible, such as CFAT or Interview. Then you'll have to wait...and yes i mean wait.

I hate this. Considering about 5 years ago I applied for Infantry and got accepted but declined because at the time I found out my Opa was diagnosed with cancer and only had a year or so to live I declined my offer and went to Ontario to spend as much time as possible with him before he passed.  Granted If I hadnt of done that, I wouldnt have my amazing family I have now so I dont regret my decision but at the the same time, the chances of getting into infantry or any other combat arms trade any time in the forseeable future is looking very bleek. :-(

Sorry to hear that. You, without a doubt, did the noble and right thing, but like the saying goes 'no good deed goes unpunished.'  I always believe that good things will happen to good people, so don't lose hope. There are many other opportunities with the CF, so perhaps consider other trades....what else would you be interested in? All the best to you and hopefully something comes up soon enough!
