So I applied to join the CF regular about 7-8 months ago. I completed the application form, passed the medical, had an interview and that went well and they told me I just needed a letter from my doctor saying I was not addicted to marijuana. I got the letter and was already to go when my buddy, with whom I was joining, failed his medical test due to asthma. After that I decided to hold of on the army thing just to make sure it was what I wanted. After some detours and whatnot along the way I am back to it and would like to join. My question is; do I have to go through the entire application process again? Sorry if this has already been asked, I swear I used the search function to the best of my abilities.
Thanks,
Travis

It feels good to be back! :)

Usually after 1 month (30 days) after you submitted they close your application and you WILL have to resubmit all of the paperwork.

Isn't your medical, interview, and app all good for 1 year from the time they were done?

Thanks for the quick responses! Hopefully someone can clear that up.

Travis:

In order to re-open your file, you WILL need to bring in another application, Background check and Security Check form (#'s DND 2170, Backcheck and CF 330-23).

Files stay open until: The applicant withdraws their application, the applicant is enrolled, the applicant is found unsuitable or we have not heard from the applicant for a significant length of time.

Medical and Background checks are usually good for one year. Aptitude tests are good forever (provided that you qualified for the trade you're re-applying for AND we have the results on file still)

You WILL be questioned in your new interview however as to your commitment to the CF. Withdrawing your application because your buddy isn't going to go with you seems like a frivolous application in the first place ... just be prepared for the question and be able to explain to the interviewer how your situation is changed and be able to prove to him that you're serious this time.

Good Luck,

Otis

Just a Possible FYI..  The medical is only good for 30-60 days as your condition can change.  I know the background is ok for a year.  I applied a year ago and need to resubmit all.

That was what I heard from the DOC about the medical papers and exam.

Alright thanks everyone.

To otis; Yea that is why i didnt join, because when my friend didnt make it and i started to feel unsure about it I thought I should wait to make sure I was 100% sure this is what I want to do. I have waited and i'm still sure so hopefully the recruiters understand.

Just a little follow-up for those who care and/or for those searching for an answer to the same question I had.

I went down to the RC and they told me I just needed to hand in the form from my doctor and everything would be back on track. The doctors note was dated from nov so it has been 7 months. I was told everything from medical to background check are kept on file for one year. So now they are sending my medical file to be sent to see if I am medically fit.

I do have one more question (I'm sure there will be many more). The Medical Officer said that if I was medically unfit they would send me a letter in the mail and that would take about 4 weeks. My question is, she said IF I'm not medically fit, if I am will they just call me and take less time?

It will take the same amount of time either way.

If you are NOT medically fit, your medical file goes back to the CFRC and you get a letter.

If you ARE medically fit, I'm pretty sure you still get a letter, but I AM sure your file still needs to go back to the CFRC to be logged prior to continuing processing. They should call you, but if you get a 'good to go' letter, wait a couple of days and then call the CFRC to see what you need to do next.

Either way, if you don't hear ANYTHING back after a couple of months (max) ... call the CFRC for follow up.

Yea I am planning on waiting 4-5 weeks then calling them to see what's going on. Again thanks to everyone for your help!
