Applying to the Forces

Today I went to a recruiting center in Toronto to apply for the reserve forces as well as submit an application for ROTP.

Turns out I could not because I am not a Canadian citizen. I am actually a landed immigrant(I am an American). Is there anyway to fast track the citizenship? This is really really really frustrating.

I should have asked in my first post, how long have you been living here? And do you meet all the other conditions to apply for citizenship?

I just turned 18 in January, I've been living here for 16 years. I just never bothered to apply because I never needed it. Now I need to wait 1 whole year to receive my citizenship. What a rip. I feel SO frustrated. Now, I can not even apply for ROTP next year, let alone reserves.  :(

Thanks for the reply!

No problem.  Just remember good things come to those who wait; spend the next year getting in the best physical shape possible and make yourself that much better of a candidate all around.  If you really want it, it will be worth it.

Good point. I'm heading into post secondary and I will not have anything to do this summer. There is no waiver for long-time residents, I assume?

You appear to meet the residency requirement, but the application process still takes time.

I'm not sure, although I would assume no as well.  But the answer would be found on that link either way.
