Fully agree with Colin on this one. The Coast Guard usually has three or four icebreakers at a time up in the Arctic during the navigation season. They can't be everywhere help is needed. Any AOPS up there at the time will at the very least be called upon to "assist" some ships whenever they are the closest one. It won't be CG type assistance, i.e. they will not escort the ship to where they are going, but the AOPS will at the very least get them out of being stuck in the ice, and /or provide first line emergency help (for medical or damage control situations).
