Hello thirsty Army.ca members!

I have set up a page at MeetUp.com to help us organize Army.ca Meet & Greet events:

http://www.meetup.com/Army-ca/

The premise is pretty simple, if you want to grab a beer with folks from the site, just log in and see if there are any events near you... if not, go ahead and create one! As we get 'critical mass' in places like Ottawa, Vancouver, Kingston and (hopefully) Halifax, we can start to arrange some pub nights (or Professional Development Sessions, as the case may be).

I've also added the 2011 Army Run to the events list... Let's see how many Army.ca users we can get out to that event too!

If anyone has any problems or questions (with the process, not with the people they meet as a result) then please let me know.

Cheers
Mike

that's interesting.. Canada is a huge country..
surprisingly out of the 3 meet up that show on the website one of em is  in my town..  O_o
nobody signed up for any of them trough so far its 3 empty group

I think it picks up your ISP and adds you city as Kingston was there when I followed the link.

It is showing three members, one in each group.  If your facebook pic is a hand with a spider on it, you have signed up in Barrie.

i don't  know if its picking ip.. kingston was there when i went and i don't live there.. its odd
on the other side i don't see why one would make a meet up in terrebonne  if it didn't pick my IP you would assume it would be in Montreal who is close but much bigger and would attract more people... it shall forever remain a mystery..

It added North Bay after I checked out the site.  I wasn't interested in setting anything up for there, especially because I am moving out of province in a couple of weeks.  Mike, is this an automatic thing where it picks your city and opens up a new meeting?  And if so, is there a way to turn it off or delete it?

Might take a day to get used  to the layout of the meet up site. But in the meantime, Mike if you're still interested in going to make a skydive, what do you think about having an army.ca maritimers jump for a M&G?

I've added a new 'Meet-up' to the page... this coming Monday night at 7pm ET let's try to have a coordinated group chat in the chat room here.

Who's in?

I might be a bit late, but should be able to attend, since am just getting off work at this end of the country :).

0330hrs --- Odds are that I'll probably be up, but connection will be slow/deciding factor.

Well, I missed my own meet-up. tess, it looks like I'm gonna have to add that feature after all!

For those that did join the chat room, how did it go?

Not alot of folks showed up either - had a long chat with tanman for a bit and a couple others...

Mike;
This is so cool. went to the Cherryville B.C. but found no
member's although I had a prob as it stated was an
Army.ca link: Meet n Greet. I'am in the Thompson/Ohanagen
and an hour drive from Cherryville. I'am in Vernon. Anybody
close to me please feel free to hookup in this local for a
Meet n greet. Cheer's and Best Regard's,
Scoty B

Oooh, not just an 'event' but skydiving. Definitely going to have to check my calendar. And my life insurance policy.

No, there's not a meetup in Porsgrunn-Skien, Norway...nor is there one in Nuuk, Greenland - I'm just always curious to see where my internet signal gets bounced through.

Though Greenpeace did make appearances here ::)
