army surplus stuff

I am hearing all these stories about people who buy surplus army stuff from auctions, but I never actually see anything mentioned about it in news papers, or posted around the base. How does one find these wonderful auctions and where do they take place?

Not every base runs surplus auctions. There are specific sites such as Halifax which conduct them. Once you figure out if one is near you, you can get on their mailing list to recieve all the listings of items being offered for sale. You can then submit closed bids for material.
