Army Uniform Change

Uniforms are paid out of the uniform allowance each soldier receives so it doesn't affect the budget which also includes beans and bullets.

Its a nod to the WW2 era uniform dubbed pinks and greens. The officer uniform is sharp.

Good for them. The uniform it replaces is just plain old ugly and non-Army.

...but it doesn't fully replace anything, since the Blues are still going to be used in formal situations.  I guess it would be like the equivalent of the USMC olive drab uniform instead of their high collars.

The Army Blue uniform was the duty uniform worn during the Revolution.Brits wore scarlet and the Continental army wore blue.

Having worn a Sam Browne and carried a swagger stick, I surely hope not. :nana:

I would take that over the unification business suit with badges we have now :-/  I personally think the brits have a sharp looking Army uniform...and looking good in a uniform is good for morale and worth investing some money on.

Yes. Let's go back to brown. The bus driver green 'uniforms' have always been unsat.

The one uniform that looked good, our Tans in the 90's was cut to save money.  I wore that in the SSF with jump boots, it was sharp so off course we had to get rid of it :-/

Oh boy oh boy yes mine is still at the back of the closet......why I’ll never tell.....

Can't go around looking too much like the CANSOF guys and gals now, can you...

I'd be happy with stealing their uniforms, sad when RCAF and RCN members can join SOF and look more Army than the Army does :-/  But we can go with a single Khaki colour and let SOF stay two tone...

Here’s an early look at the new officer Army Greens

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ― The sergeant major of the Army and several enlisted models have been showcasing the new Army Greens Uniform at public events over the past year, but the officer version has kept a much lower profile.

Gen. Robert Brown, the commander of U.S. Army Pacific, debuted his set Tuesday at AUSA’s Global Force Symposium, telling Army Times that several senior leaders have been fitted for their new service uniforms, and should be showing them off soon.

“I debated wearing it here, because I thought, only a few people have it ― but I thought, what the heck!” he said. “I’m proud of it, and they gave it to me for me to wear it!”

Its a throw back to the WW2 era uniform , Ike Jacket and all. To save money they should have kept the Army Green Uniform and add the old Army Tan uniform of the 60's. Plus adding shorts would be nice.

I thought the uniform they wore post-WW2, and for next half-century, looked very modern and sleek in a gray-green polyester-blend.

( I am not referring to the ceremonial uniform - dark blue coat with light blue trousers / skirt. )

Maybe it reminded people a little too much of the Vietnam era? While the "new" uniform may re-kindle nostalgia for the last time the nation celebrated total victory in a World War.

Why do I look at the two women in the picture and suddenly have thoughts of Vera-Ellen breaking into "Oh! I wish I was back in the Army"?

;D

I liked our tropical worsted tan uniform but I really liked the Canadian tan uniform I saw once online.

No thanks, that thing was brutal. Any amount of moisture would cause the area to immediately darken causing some very interesting visuals, rubbing against absolutely anything would leave a mark, as soon as you sat down, any point where there was bunching of fabric would wrinkle...nope.

Also, the sewn-on badges/ranks/etc were on dark backings like the green DEU.  I never understood why they didn't have dark ranks/Canada letters on tan backings.
