i have been in the reserves for about 3 months and i was wondering when we get issued bayonets, or if we do at all, i have noticed some reservests have them but only the older ones

In our unit we get issued them before exercises and turn them in the day the Ex ends.

My Reserve Regiment issues them out after you complete BMQ or SQ...cant remember which one it is, sry.

We very rarely get issued our bayonets...only on large excersizes...

I managed to convince my RQMS to let me keep the scabbard, so that I don't have to reattach it to my TV all the time, but I've had my bayonet issued to me 3 times in 2 years.

Once for Stalwart Guardian 05, and for the 2 last Rememberance day parades, and I was Cenotaph party for both.

We may have a Freedom of the City parade this year, and that would make it the fourth.

Bayonets are part of the weapons EIS... along with Mags, bolt & Scope
Reserve units don't (or shouldn't) permanently issue Bayonets to its members.
Also - the new ones are serialized - real pain in the ass if one has top report having lost one.

So by this statement, you weren't wondering why he, specifically needed a bayonet... rather, you were wondering what anyone would use a bayonet for...  that makes much more sense. I guess they don't explain their uses, these days?
