In case you didn't know, Bell has started to throttle bandwidth for Peer to Peer and encrypted connections (including VPN).
This also affects third party DSL providers (resellers) such as Teksavvy or Electronicbox, not just Bell Sympatico customers.

As a telecommunications consultant, I find this matter quite upsetting and contrary to the principle of net neutrality.
I wonder if our politicians (or the CRTC) will get a hold of this sensitive, but all too important issue.

Regards,

It's a shame that net neutrality isn't actually upheld in any laws. ISPs have been engaging in a form of bandwidth discrimination for a few years now with their various VOIP offerings (some even going as far to charge an extra fee to use a competitors VOIP services reliably). Until more consumers are willing to voice their opposition I fear the whole affair will continue unabated.

As much as I'd love to see some net neutrality legislated by the Federal government, my Libertarian side just can't get on board for what is essentially a good-faith contract between a service provider in the consumer. Let the people vote with their wallets.
