Hello

My father, Bill HIGNEY, served
with the Royal Canadian Engineers.
He served during WW2, the Korean War and peacetime.    :salute:
It would be great to hear from anyone who served with my Dad!

Which Squadrons and Regiments did he serve in?

Thanks for your reply, McG!

Dad served with the 18th Field Company during WW2, 57 Independent Field Squadron in Korea, with 4th Field Squadron in Germany and a number of postings in Canada, including Gagetown!

Spr. Earl:

Thanks for your reply!

Dad was released in 1972 after 31 years of service.

Vet,4 year‘s before me but here‘s a link for the retired sapper‘s site out of Chilliwack.
It‘s run by Harry Poile.
You can contact him via the site.
There is a list of Retired Sapper‘s on Line also.

Hope this help‘s in your quest.
Good luck.

Thought that I would mention this topic again  in case anyone has served with my father.   :salute:
Would the moderators move this topic to the Personnel Locator forum for me please? :)

Hello Bill,
My father, Sgt M.W.(Whitney) Derby, served with the 18th Field Company - RCE from 1940-46 from Sussex NB to England, Scotland, Wales, D-Day, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and as a War Crimes Trial witness. If I could find a company roster I would be very pleased indeed as I have a company photo from 42 or 43.
Regards,
Arden Derby
