As I have spent 10 years in the British TA after being a 48th Highlander for 10 years 1 big different I noted is the TA got an annual Bounty! This is tax free and is paid on or after 01 April each year. To get this bounty you must had done all the requirements for the last bounty year. In independent units (units that have parade nights and are local) you need to do a minimum of 27 days training! 15 days camp or course and 12 out of camps days . In the out of camp days you are to do things like a range, tested on subjects like Battlefield cas drills (i am a trainer and tester on that one) etc...
People do try to do the bare minimum and are called Bounty Hunters! I did 189 1/2 days last year and get the same bounty as a Bounty Hunter!
What do members of the Canadian Reserves think about going a bounty as a reward for a year's training? The top Bounty is paid after 5 years and is about £1400!
