With no further explanation of this miscellaneous fee, I call BS - you have a $20 item, plus US taxes, to say $28, add 10-15 bucks for shipping, plus UPS brokerage of 15 USD - TADA, your order is already at $58 USD.  Now add your customs/duties which will include a 7% GST plus the US exchange rate, BINGO, there's your $100 CDN lanyard.

That doesn't make any sense.  There is no "BINGO"....I buy things from the US all the time.  I recently bought a leather holder for a hunting knife I bought.  The price was 29.99 USD.  I had it shipped UPS Ground and it came up to a grand total of 54$ USD and 7$ CDN COD.

That 100$ charge (if it's true) makes no sense.  No duties and charges would add $80+ USD to a $20 USD item....no matter how much calculation you try and do...

I KNOW from buying a lot of kit in the US that both UPS and Canada Custom are crooks.  On stuff I buy for work (personal but 100% work related) I simply have it shipped to the base - with "for military use no commercial value" stamped on it. 

UPS and their theiving brokers PBB Global Logistics tried to fuck me hard on "brokerage" on item I had shipped to Aghan - a long phone call and me telling them plain FUCK OFF, you come right over here to Afghan and try to get your money - seemed to get my point across.

Ship stuff USPS if you can - no broker and worse case you pay the GST and occasional the $5 Canada Custom tampering (they open your kit) fee.

BHI does some shady shit don't get me wrong (Made in USA  : ) - but a lot of the trouble is duty generate from stuff made out of the US (when they admit to it.)  FWIW I know someone close to BHI and they are trying to reloacte more production back to Va. - but the problem is cost are skyrocketing (and thus their huge margin is down)

BHI has a Cdn distributor (R.Nicholls or M.D. Charelton - I can recall) and it is easier to source from them - IF you really want BHI stuff.
Better and cheaper is out there.
