This is the best talk on World Affairs including Afghanistan I've seen. Serious, funny, deadly, informative. Will appeal to all ranks.

Two points come to mind
Senior Leaders have to be able to sell their current ideas - Gen Hayden, who probably spent his life painting the word picture, talks the talk, if you're a leader at any level listen to how he says what he says. Presentation presence is always your killer app.
Note he comments that few Allies see themselves in a comprehensive war - I'd say that rings very true for Canadian policy talking heads. Its not a war - its a whole of government can't get the words out of our mouths like "its a 'king wwwww aaaaaaaaaa rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" as some Khaki minder from Foreign Affairs has her Iphone spy recorder pointed at the leader's ____(you fill this part in)____ .
Finally a new term - or old one if you're wearing a faded dusty never was green beret - Capture or Kill? If you're a lowlevel scumbag operating outside the wire (to quote Gen Hillier) well I don't think there's a ring to attach you to on the in bound choppers. DNA swabs - always
