I am not sure if this is a repost. My apologies if it is.

British Para gets hung up on a static line jump.... dragged while attached for what must feel like forever until being released by a "HUPRA" system.

Scary stuff..

Holy crap.  That is pants-wet scary.  At 1:15, they zoom in on a red spot.  Is that him bleeding?

Outstanding. I especially liked the part where he was dangled over a busy motorway.

Still, probably just attention seeking behaviour, bloody show off, and more proof that adrenalin is brown.

It appears like it. Almost seems like his left arm gets back into the lines as they came out of the pack. It didn't move a whole lot after the mishap.

What is with the splayed arms and legs?
The jumper is less likely to spin, twisting the suspension lines as the parachute deploys.

Is line twist terribly common jumping a round canopy? Any more/less of a problem than jumping a (non eliptical) ram-air?

That had to hurt.  While watching it tho all I could hear in my mind was Blackadder telling Baldric to stop arseing about.

I've only done a couple of hundred military jumps (British, US and Canadian) with various canopies but have seen, and experienced, most of the screw ups that can happen. Line overs, air steals, twists to the canopy, partial malfunctions etc etc etc. My guess is that it's 50% operator error, 50% other factors beyond your control, which is what para pay is for, right?

Having said all that I have never seen, nor wish to experience, what this guy went through. Maybe there's a rigger or jump master on here who can make an expert commentary on what might have happened in this case!

Oh, and HUPRA is very British: the RAF don't like to retrieve angry PARAs into the plane for reasons of personal safety!

Pausing the video at 2:12 shows a pretty good view of something...not right. Keeping in mind I'm not a rigger.

And just cause for the heck of it; here's another hang up video. With a pilot who came incredibly close to losing his tail.
