Buffalo Hide Sources?

Doing some research for work - wondering where one could buy buffalo hides (whole ones, to use for blankets on the ground to sit on) in Canada, and how much they might cost.

Here's a couple of places that may have what you want. One in Quebec, one in BC.

At Ranch Les Beaux Bisons you can buy:

Live Bisons: heifer calves, bull calves, yearling heifers, yearling bulls and two year old bulls.

Bison hides, brain tanned and smoked Bison leather, Bison skuls, Bison mounted heads, bones to carve and wool and made to order sculptures, necklaces, etc...

Bison meat at our counter, which is opened Saturday and Sunday from 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm. During the week, we suggest you take an appointment before coming to make sure we will be opened.

These magnificent winter hides are professionally tanned at the ranch's tannery by Rudy Karlen, a Swiss-Canadian Master Craftsman and all-around lead hand at the ranch.

Each animal weighs approximately 400 kg (800 lbs) when slaughtered. The processed hides measure roughly 150 cm by 180 cm (5 ft by 6 ft) but sizes may vary.

All the hides sold at the XH are off their own buffalo and only non-toxic materials are used in the old-fashioned tanning process resulting in an all-natural and environmentally-friendly product that is very clean, free of bugs and easy to care for.

Buffalo hides make cozy bedspreads, rustic rugs, or impressive wall hangings. You can buy a hide and have it made into a coat as Buffalo fur is well known for its warmth and the ability to absorb large amounts of moisture.

The hides are lush, thick and soft to the touch. The leather is thick and almost flawless. The fur over the hump is particularly long and luxuriant and each hide comes complete with the tail.
 
Caring for a buffalo hide is quite easy: simply brush or vacuum it and it's like new again.
Prices for the finished buffalo hides range from $600 - $800 CAD depending on size and condition.
