"Calgary Flames skip flu vaccine lineups"

The cartoon in today's Sun shows exactly that!
A Flames player - hockey stick in hand - in front of a vaccination clinic, "Normally I wouldn't jump que, but I have an MRI this afternoon."

"No surprise as pro athletes jump swine line:
This H1N1 scare is making public vaccine disbursement look like the lottery held for the Titanic lifeboats that cold April night in 1912.":

Anyone can get an MRI whenever they want - private clinics.  The WCB in Alberta uses private clinics.  Rationing of a basic diagnostic tool simply means the politicians don't fear us enough.  No-one has lost an election because of MRIs.

If I had enough money to pay for my own MRI, I think I'd offer the $$ to Mike to make it so you can't post on here.  Between your theory of how the Reserve's would be better if the 19th Alberta Buffalo Battalion or whoever it was should be reinstated to your stance on how the Flames side-stepping lineups and the whole waiting like everyone else, I really think you say stuff on here just to stir things up.

Just bein' honest.  I am sure there are folks who think likewise about me.

I can't presume to guess what Mike would want but I can only assume that a divergence of opinion would be part of it.

I am not sure how me being concerned that the Maritimes has reserve units at 4 times the rate of northern Alberta (11 1/2 times in infantry and armour), while many Alberta communities with populations between 50 and 70 thousand have none, is a sign of unreasonableness.

The Flames?  20 to 30 or 100 shots maybe have symbolic value but in real terms, absolutely none.  No baby is going to die because any concerned parent, such as myself, would have taken 3 1/2 hours off work to have their kids done.  Anybody who waits 6 months for a test when they could spend $700 and have it done that day has his priorities screwed up.  25 years ago a family member had a health problem that doctors couldn't figure out.  A couple days at the Mayo Clinic provided the diagnosis on our own dime.

Maybe some people don't have that $700 to pay, unlike the Flames* and their family members.  ::)

*Mentioned just to keep the thread on topic  ;)

I think the now ex-AHS staffer made the correct, if unpopular, call. Imagine the disruption in line if a local celebrity like Iginla was there? What about the personal security risk to him and his family once word got out to the media that Iginla, Kiprusoff, or Phaneuf would be standing in line at the clinic for at least 3 1/2 hours?

Yes, the optics are bad, but it was the correct call at the time.

First off..I have to say if Pmedmoe rolls her eyes as much in real life as she does here, they probably unscrew and fall out

Second,Do you really expect millionaire local hero's to have to wait? It's the pubic who makes them millions,if your that angry stop watching any Calgary games, merchandise and tickets.Fact is however that there are fans out there that would give their own baby's shots to a hockey player.

I hate hockey,I hate the fact that they make more than doctors. This doesnt surprise me at all.
