Can a recruiter answer this one?

I talked to a recruiter the other day who told me the number of open spots available for the trades I applied for. I wondered afterwards if these numbers were carried over from 2010 or if they were the new numbers reflected in the SIP 2011.

Recruiters? Are you guys giving out numbers based on the new year starting in April, or still working off the old sheet?

Those numbers are fluid.  As positions are filled, the numbers drop.  As positions are opened up, the numbers go up.  The SIP will affect those numbers, but if positions are not filled, they do not disappear in the new Fiscal Year unless there has been changes made to the Trade or Training System somehow affecting change.

I seem to have phrased my question poorly, but I think you may have answered it anyway. It makes sense that the numbers change as positions are filled, but I wasn't sure if the new SIP had affected things yet or not. Since you're saying the SIP will affect the numbers, I'm assuming they haven't yet.

To put it more plainly, the number I was told last week was quite low and I was wondering if that might go up in the new Fiscal Year or if that WAS for the new Fiscal Year.

As has been said on here before, there's no way to know until 1 Apr when some things may open up and numbers may change. Until that date arrives, everything is speculation and no one can answer your question.

I know. The part of my post you quoted was just to explain why I was interested in the answer. It wasn't the question. My question was whether or not CFRCs have the new SIP numbers, which I was led to believe would be sometime in March. If that is incorrect and they aren't distributed until April 1, then that's fine too.

Surely we don't have until April for an answer to that.

Thanks Stacked. Your info did help and it reinforces some of the things I've been hearing too. I think I'm just going slightly nuts waiting, so I'm trying to figure out things like whether new SIP numbers are out in order to assess and forecast my chances. :facepalm:

I guess it really is true, though...SIP numbers, new fiscal years, and all the rest...there will either be an offer or there won't, and it will come in April or sometime thereafter. Nothing to do but wait. And maybe work on my running and pushups.  ;D
