CAN Def Min Wants New JTF-2 Name?!?

2(JTF) -

Now if my math memory serves me correctly, wouldn't that equal 2J2T2F??

Wouldn't JTF-3 be a good compromise - the MND gets a new name and the heritage continues.

The troops have been questioned on the matter & THEY WANT to keep the JTF2 name.  Leave well enough alone and spend our hard earned tax dollars on something else if you please.

Thank you!

Well, that pretty much dooms it then, doesn't it?

Why not propose a name change for the MND instead?

SF2, unless J = T or T = F or F=J, then you might have 4J2F or 8F3 or 1/8J4T-2F-2....uh oh, maybe we better stick with JTF2... :-\

Hell why not submit it...O'Connor might be so stumped trying to figure out the calculation, he'll just forget about the actual name change.

I'm not for or against a name change. But could this be a link to a previous post in regards to linking JTF2 to the FSSF?
http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/2808.0.html
By making this change JTF2 could possibly inherit FSSF battle honours linking it to its predecessor.
Cheers,
Jason

CSOR are not the only ones being tarred with the Nazi affiliation. Check out the shoulder flash on the UK's new Special Forces Support Group, equivalent to our CSOR. Holy hell has been raised in the UK, for obvious reasons. Ah well, at least the civvies are paying attention to the military again...

SS Unit Insignia bear minimal resemblance IMHO, see link:

I never really liked the name JTF2. I thought it was uncreative - but that don't really matter. Frankly I think that the name 1st SS Regiment sucks.

Agreed, although I just thought the name was b_llocks and made no sense although they had to change the name when they assumed duties from the RCMP SERT.  And back in those days given the mandate they could not jump on the SAS name bandwagon.

That was then this is now.  I wonder how long the head-shed considered the SAS name based on our own past and historic ties.

UK SAS (SAS)
Australian SAS (SASR)
New Zealand SAS (1NZSAS Gp)

Wait for it, Canadian SAS which many on here know existed 1947-49.

Ummm..... CSOR and CSAS, seems to work :salute:

JTF2 did not exist prior to assuming the RCMP SERT duties; therefore there was no name change.

See the DND website
JTF 2 was created on April 1, 1993 when the Canadian Forces accepted responsibility for federal counter-terrorism operations from the RCMP. Prior to the creation of JTF 2, the RCMP's Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) was responsible for federal counter-terrorism operations.
