Due to the recent measles outbreak across Canada, the Pan American Health Organization (the WHO affiliate for North/South America) has stated that Canada has lost its measles-free designation and it is likely that the US and probable Mexico will soon follow.

I swear, we're rapidly returning to the time when you had to travel not only with your passport, but your immunization record as well. Won't affect me, but I can see some pissed off folks being turned around upon landing for not having it, or not being adequately immunized.
I don't know who to thank for this garbage - religious zealots or dunces that are NOT doctors being appointed to important health portfolios. Or is it the effect of Covid and the aftermath?

I know your question was mostly rhetorical, but it primarily started with a heavily flawed paper that was written by Andrew Wakefield. This was then taken up by activist parents, and grew into the anti-vax movement. COVID provided the anti-vax folks with the golden goose, and allowed them to become far more mainstream. The result is now widespread anti vaccination lobbying, internet presence, and government infiltration. Just look at the US HHS Secretary and staff.

"Heavily flawed" - Mike, how polite of you :ROFLMAO: . The paper was fraud to promote the MMR vaccine he was developing...he admitted to that and to perjury in court, hence why he lost his medical license on 2 continents. But, he touts himself as a martyr...as do his minions.

Need more coffee...only good thing about this is I can still guarantee I'll be employed for sometime in the future.

Jenny McCarthy kicked it all off 15yrs ago. This is the aftermath of it.

You still need to show proof of vaccination for entry into some countries - primarily Yellow Fever vaccination is required for entry to countries in Africa and Central/South America.

The handling of the Covid epidemic and the vaccine was a perfect storm of unpreparedness, bureaucracy, corporate greed, inexperience and inability to plan and communicate. I only did one Covid shot as I needed it for work, avoided the rest, all my other vaccines are up to date as are my kids. We knew two people who suffered greatly from getting the Covid vaccine and still do.

Should we also license barbers to be doctors? Like in the olde dayes?

In the early days of modern medicine, they did not cover themselves in glory, lots of bad ideas and bad doctors. The Healthcare know is around 120 years old , young by history standards.

While modern medicine has no defined start point, it is generally felt that the adoption of germ theory was the catalyst for quantum improvements. It is a tragedy of the modern era, that so many "influencers" and "wellness" practitioners reject the basis of effective medicine under some guise of "natural is better". Remember when we said that access to information would make for a smarter population? The internet has proven that to be a lie.
