Hi everybody

I was hoping to get some advise from people here regarding some plans i have in mind.

A short introduction about myself: I am 28 years old, married , I was born in 1984 and i have been living in Cyprus for the past 16 years.

My dream was always to be in the military but in Cyprus unfortunately , although their is an army, you can't volunteer to be a soldier and make a career out of it.
With that said, i moved on to other things like computer engineering and networks for 10 years and the last few years ive been dealing with banking in a corporate services company.
Office jobs are not for me. I need to be out there meeting people, socializing , I tend to always help people and seek whatever action i can find to amuse myself on a daily basis.

Long story short, any advise regarding the Canadian forces would be great. Im looking to enroll for infantry officer or Infantry soldier . The daily exercise and various routines provided excite me and it will fulfill my dream and for that, i will give my all to make it work.

For some reason i can't get through to them by phone and I found a couple of emails of recruitment agencies but i haven't received any replies yet(its been 2 days now) .

I read that there is requirements in order to even get accepted. All i found out about it is that you require an average on your high school diploma of over 75% (I graduated but have below 75%) and/or have a university degree(which again i don't have since i had good work back then already). I found out that there is various ways to get enrolled . CF also pays for a university degree and you can work in the military simultaneously or so i read somewhere but don't have enough details...  So any advise on that would be much appreciated .

Looking forward to hearing from you guys soon .

Thanks in advance,

Aris

Are you a Canadian Citizen? If not, you cannot apply yet. That should be your first step.

A lot of the information you need is on the www.forces.ca recruiting site, specifically here: http://www.forces.ca/en/page/faq-101 Keep trying by phone, but keep in mind everyone just got back to work after the Easter holiday today, it will be busy.

You'll want to look into the ROTP, as well as the university reimbursement for reserves, and the NCM subsidized education plan. From what I've heard, those are ordered from hardest to easier to get into, good luck.

FTFY

It's a good idea not to repeat information to other applicants unless you know what you are talking about.
Last month there was a CANFORGEN out that affected most education plans due to budget cuts.

edit: to include the discussion re the education cuts.
