Canadian Military Research Essay for School

Hello all, I'd like to apologize in advance just incase I posted this in the wrong forum, and for my lack of knowledge on this topic.

My information could be slightly off.

I'm doing a research essay on the Canadian militarys' budget, it's size and it's equipment. I've found plenty of information on here and on net, but I would just like to know what I should target exactly, since I know you guys are knowledgable on this topic. What i'm basically asking for is  a problem in the Canadian forces, such as our military budget, or how we lack military personel (i'm not saying we really LACK them, but more of we're a really small army, we rank 16th internationally but we're below average according to the U.S., go figure) I just need to expand some more, if you guys could help me pinpoint a more specific problem within the big picture.

    By accessing the official DND website, the treasury board, and such organisations as the Fraser Institute, the Dominion Institute, the Departments of Strategic studies @ the U of Calgary and Royal Military College you will find most of the info you need (budget breakdowns etc.)
    For easily substantiated generalisations, search through the globe and mail back issues and official DND press releases.
    The biggest financial problems facing the DND right now are centered around addressing the infrastructure decay that is plaguing the Canadian Forces. A lack of effective major purchases (Strykers we can't move outside of Canada, Subs that are lemons, SUVs we cant shoot out of) is also of concern.
