Canadian River Class Destroyer Megathread

Cost or politics? Right now I am calling it a toss up. Starmer is in real trouble with his budget, his party, the parliament and other countries are taking notice.

Trump has got nothing on Starmer when it comes to reversing himself.

I really dont know who is worse Starmer or Trump. The UK seems to be complete mess right now.

It hasn't just been him, they've had a trend of bad PM's for a number of years now.

500,000 civil servants
5,000,000 public sector employees
50% of households are net recipients of state benefits.

That is the drag on any fool that volunteers for the job.

In terms of %'s, how do we fair?

Also, I'd be curious to know if the 20+yr trend of 'reducing' power residing within London out into the 'regions' Wales/Scotland/NI/England in the area of 'local/regional' power has lead to massive redundancies in the delivery of services and an increase in the 'need' for a greater number of PS individuals.

The 'trend' to 'go local' within the EU in the mid 90's when I was doing my MPA on the EU in Belgium/The Netherlands was just beginning to take off. The belief was that those locally were more in tune with what services needed to be provided within a certain area and who better to deliver those services and make those decisions but the local people. I've not followed this belief for many years, only in passing over the last 2+ decades but I can see (now and then) that it would lead to a massive increase in the 'state' and those that work for and deliver state services.

More hands in the purse. Still only one purse.

Norway will get some of the RN's Type 26 production slots.

"While the possibility of Norway securing access to UK Type 26 production capacity has long been widely discussed across defence industry circles, this marks the first direct confirmation from the government that such an approach is being actively examined. Pollard added that the Royal Navy’s programme would not be reduced, stating: “The Royal Navy will receive all eight Type 26 ships during the late 2020s and 2030s as planned.”"

The Type 26 project is moving along well - the 3rd hull is now assembled, sanded and has been given a layer of fiberglass resin. This one is the first that I expect to see the pond - the previous models were static ones that will not be getting wet.

I did some design adjustments on the S-92 as well - there's a model on Thingiverse but it's a civilian version - no sensors or anything - I did some minor adjustments to make it look the part a bit better. I also printed a 'half' helicopter that will be visible in the mission bay area.

So you have the third one in the water before ISI has even started putting the mega blocks of the first one together.

Do you want a contract for the CDCs?
