Canadian River Class Destroyer Megathread

So lets see here: So far, we have artwork from Irving and from NavyShooter for a thread that goes back to August 2015.

And the winner is NavyShooter!
What I'm being told its the latest version of the ship with the mark 54 gun and other changes to the design.

Mark 54*, but yes, in happy to see they've finally updated the picture to reflect that change.

Latest artwork from Irving .

The quality of the image especially on the aft of the ship is low quality and partially looks AI modified (aerials aft look squished alongside the NSM launchers?). Obviously the Italian 5" gun has been replaced by the BAE Mark 45 5", although it kind of looks to me as well that the Italian 30mm Lionfish mounts are gone and replaced with BAE's 25mm or 30mm Mark 38 MGS. The NSM launcher looks to be strangely squished but also shifted inwards above the mission bay, which seems to point to the ExLS cells finally being removed from the renders. There is something clearly present on the starboard side aft where the RAM launcher has been shown before, but its weirdly compressed and short. The older quad Nulka decoy launchers abaft the primary stack has been shifted to a two layered 6 cell system, or some kind of additional VLS? The model is very generic, but I'm very sure it's Nulka going off the recent Australian launcher setups I've seen. A few small changes to stuff bolted on the ship in various spots, but mostly reverting to US weapon systems even further it seems.

Version 3 is progressing slowly - I'm letting the paint set well before sanding with progressively finer sand-paper. This is after 320 grit, and a light layer of blue below the waterline. That'll end up drying for a few days now before I mask and start painting the ship's side gray above it.

I also got a layer of 2K Epoxy Primer laid on the outside of the upper deck module - there's a bunch of filling and sanding still required, but I wanted to seal it in well with the epoxy.

CEAFAR/CEAMOUNT are very light relative to their size. That's all the good things I've ever heard about them from Australians.

Ever seen a Tico in heavy beam sea ?

I do remember we did a crosspol with Enterprise, and after a tour we were having some cobbler in the wardroom with the 3 exchange officers, and they started going white. I asked what was wrong and they said they were all starting to get sea sick. I was extremely confused because the only movement we were feeling was a very slow and infrequent rise and fall as we rode close to Big E's wake. Apparently serving on a carrier means you almost never feel the ship move.

I don't think we give the CPFs credit for how well they ride. But boy oh boy fish pats on the Grand Banks or Flemish cap in the winter is a hell of weight loss program.

From the Andrea Gail's wikipedia entry:

A buoy off the coast of Nova Scotia reported a wave height of 100.7 ft (30.7 m), the highest ever recorded in the province's offshore waters.

30 Meters! JFC.
