Canadian soldier seriously wounded in Afghanistan

KANDAHAR - A Canadian soldier has been shot and seriously wounded by insurgents in southern Afghanistan.
The military says the soldier was struck by insurgent small arms fire Tuesday at about 5:20 p.m., local time in the Panjwayi district, about 30 kilometres west of Kandahar City.
The soldier, whose identity has not been released, was evacuated by helicopter to the hospital at Kandahar Airfield.
The military says the soldier is in serious but stable condition.
The soldier's family has been notified.
