CEOTP and 15 other questions

First, my thanks to everyone for the FAQ’s on this site; very informative. Second, my apology’s if any of my questions have been answered elsewhere on this site.

I recently submitted my application and have an interview and medical scheduled in May. I am not required to complete an aptitude test since I was tested in 2002 as part of a reserve application. All for the better since I am fairly confident I aced the test in 2002 and would likely not a second time. Honestly, I should have enlisted in 2002, unfortunately, then as now, I did not have a degree.

1. I did not submit a cover letter or resume with my application, should I?
2. Having selected the infantry as my only career choice, to what degree will I have to outperform my peers to enter CEOTP as opposed to DEO and/or ROTP?
3. My family (common law and child) does/will not support my decision to join the CF, should I keep this information secret and/or how will it affect my chances of becoming an infantry officer?
4. I can will my body to serious extremes, however, I’m 28 and I’m not as quick in mind and/or body as I once was, if accepted and I fail training, what happens?
5. When will I be asked to complete a PT test?
6. Can officers select where they are posted upon completed of phase 3? Preferably Edmonton, which I suspect is less of a problem given the private sector boom in Alberta.
7. My vision is approximately 6/18 (self-test) in both eyes, is this good or bad?
8. Is 20 day leave taken all at one time or can it be spread out?
9. What is the earliest date I can expect to attend phase 1 in Saint Jean assuming all goes well during my interview in early May.
10. Are all four phases of infantry officer training conducted back to back, if not, what would my responsibilities be while not on course?
11. How long in my career before I am expected to continue my education as required of CEOTP candidates?
12. How long before I can reasonably expect a tour, Afghanistan for instance?
13. How is RMC as a correspondence school?
14. During any of the 4 phases can I have any personal belongings, laptop for instance? Likely not but I thought I would ask, 10 weeks without porn is asking a lot.
15. What percentage of the infantry is female? Purely coincidental that this question would follow a statement about porn.

I think I can answer some of these, But my first question to you is why would you want to do something your family is against?  That will be your biggest challenge, esp when all you want to do is finish and be with them.

1) No cover letter needed!
2) It's all about competition, but I don't think (I am not a recruiter) there is a long line up for this trade,
3) You are the one that joined not your family, and it should not interfere as long as you don't become an administrative burden!
4) You could be released, or retrained,
5) Probably before or during the first few days of BOTC,
6) They can ask, but you will go where they need you!
7) I don't know,
8) You can spred it out, i.e. summer leave I use about 10-15 days, and about 6-8 for Christmas and the rest for whatever or spring break,
9) I don't know,
10) I don't think they are back to back, you might do SLT or OJT while in Gagetown,
11) I am not sure thats for you and the Career mangler to sort out, but why not do it while sitting in Gagetown doing OJT, or bitch work!
12) Probably after all your phases are done, if we are still there as the current mandate ends in I think 2009,
13) I don't know, but Athabasca U is ok, I have done a few courses there,
14) Yes you can, you should have a personal lock up, I plan on bringing a laptop, esp if I have to do some UNI courses while on downtime, I also love porn!!!
15) Guessing you are female (thats why your partner doen't support your wish) but I don't know what the mix is, as long as you can do your job there should be no issues! (again realizing you prob want someone to chat too thats the same gender) Sorry if you are male!

Thanks, that answers a few questions. The woman does not support the move since she would never see me and she isn't the military wife type. No matter, this is something I've had to do my entire life, failing which, it would be my single greatest regret.

Still one question left, approximately how long before I attend phase 1 assuming everything goes well?

I was thinking September but I get the feeling that the process can take much longer than this.

If ten weeks without porn is asking a lot, I don't even want to give you an answer.  Are these your really "serious" questions??
