I was selected to work in the QM this year, meaning I won't be doing the job I signed in for, is there something I can do to return to my normal job?

What do you mean "signed in for"? You mean the line serial you were posted to? Or are you a reservist?

It is, basically, a CO's prerogative to employ his people where and how he sees fit within his/her unit (within reason- obviously, aircrew cannot fix airplanes, nor can technicians fly them).

Yes I'am a reservist. All I want to know is if I can write a memo or something to ask to return to normal section.

You can write a memo, but just remember that the needs of the unit come first.  Have you tried talking to your immediate supervisor?  Sometimes they place people in positions as a reward or as a merit thing.

Definitely something I'd try to handle verbally. Your supervisors likely had a reason for why they selected you, reasons they may likely not be willing to divulge. Could be anything from thinking you'll sort things out, to someone banging someone's girlfriend or you were just the unlucky one the Sgt picked. Your unit needs the position filled, and unless you have a solid reason as to why you shouldn't be there your CO will not undermine your CoC's choice of you simply cause you're not happy. Support sections are regularly manned by people who are working beyond the scope of their trade, this is what you signed up for.

By all means, speak up and express your preference to your chain of command but just make sure you do it properly (ie: respectfully and provide your reasons).  At the same time though, as others have stated, its the Units decision how to employ their people and you may have no choice but to accept those duties.

When you give your reasons I'd suggest that you try not to make them "I" centric such as "I want to do this" or "I don't want to do that".  The Units needs will come secondary to your wants.  If you feel you would be better employed in another position due to your talents/training/experience, your availability (if you can't parade enough to be effective in the QM) or for other reason(s) that would benefit the Unit overall then you would be better served to phrase it that way.  In my opinion anyway.
