Often the death of a notable individual marks the end of an era for those who remember those times. Yesterday evening (19 Nov 2017), one of those who was likely the most notorious icon of the Sixties died - far too late and far too peaceful. Hopefully none will mourn the passing of Charlie Manson, though that is unlikely since his cult of personality continued throughout his incarceration. If things are right in this world, none should be able to claim the remains; the State of California should dispose of them with no fanfare or publicity and leave no physical trace that this man existed. I wish them luck. Some will want to wish that Manson rots in Hell for eternity, however that may be too good for him. There (if you believe in that sort of thing) an entity will be accounting for him, something that Manson may relish - being remembered. A more fitting end should be that memory of him fades and that he becomes non-existent . . . if only we could live in such a world.
