Chinese Military,Political and Social Superthread

Yeah but the reality is Canada saying anything without support from all the surrounding countries, the US and Oz would accomplish zero. It needed a concerted effort by everybody.
won't happen. Too many special interests looking to make money to ever shit on China. Just witness Carney's latest performance or Trump's for that matter

I was referring to 25-30 years ago when the chinese first started construction on the shoals. Now is far too late…horse has long left the barn.

Electric buses in Norway and Denmark that were manufactured in China were all found to be equipped with a remotely activated kill switch.

Not military equipment like the F35, but stuff that would shut down civil society.

Cars? Transformers? Frequency Inverters? Smartphones?

Why worry about explosives when all you need to do is make a phone call.

Isn't this a risk to any "Smart" device that is connected to the Internet? Doesn't have to be a product that is produced by an enemy state as long as there are any security vulnerabilities in the product they could potentially be hacked by a 3rd party. Not sure what the solution is unless you want to roll back the smart device revolution.

Obviously we should avoid products in key systems that are produced by nations that we already consider potential adversaries and we should work on protecting our key infrastructure from potential hacks.

I am not and have not been a fan of IoT, the internet of things. Nor am I a great fan of Bluetooth, especially in production settings. I like hard wire. I like air gaps. I like transferring data through hard media like disks and flashdrives. I like paper documentation.

I agree it slows things down but it allows for supervision and control.
