I think it is really great to see such interest in the CF by those that are still in high school.  However, I am starting to get a little worried about what language is being substituted in our grade schools for English.  Or perhaps it has ceased to be a requirement in high school altogether.  If these people are not lazy writers, then I would have to assume that they are illiterate.  I hope they get the academic preparation necessary to communicate in the CF.  I am sure there are those out there that can write quite well, however, some recent posts by 15 to 16 year olds have me a little worried.  There are a couple in particular that seem to be by the same person, albeit with a different username.  I am not intending to insult anyone, however, I think communication skills are as vital as PT skills.

Okay, just because two teenagers of 16 and 17 are lazy typers does not mean that all people that age are. Not to mention the ministry of education's guidlines and requirments for literacy in the high school level has greatly increased. Also with the requirment for writing the grade 10 literacy test to obtain a high school diploma. Wow look at that, I'm 16 and i managed to write this reply without making a typo.

I am sorry if I offended you.  As I said, I am sure there are high school students that write sufficiently well.  However, based on some recent posts, I started to wonder.  Incidentally, there were in fact some errors in your post. Such as 'i'; it is the Ministry of Education's; and I will not mention any grammatical issues.  I make errors like everyone else.  Posts are not academic papers to be submitted for graduate perusal.  Posts are bound to contain some errors.  However, the lack of writing ability that was apparent in some posts seemed rather extreme.  I am aware of the efforts of the provinces to ensure that an adequate level of literacy is achieved within their school systems.  However, I am also aware of the reports that indicate students are not achieving satisfactory literacy levels.  I expected a response such as this.  I just wanted to point out that the ability to communicate in written form is very important in the Canadian Forces.  Therefore, those that wish to join should be aware of that fact.

I'd just like to point out your spelling errors, I highlighted them in red for you, the correct spellings are as follows. I'd also like to mention that in no way am i a perfect speller, its just, if i make a claim saying Ive typed nothing wrong in a post, I'd at least do a spell check.

Guidelines
Requirements
typists (typers is not a real word)

Okay, I'm going to try my best to not rant here. It appears you are missing the point. What I am trying to say is that many people my age are literate and good spellers. You have to understand that I just got a little upset at your stereotype of teenagers. Yes I am not a perfect speller but the ministry of education thinks I am good enough. I am almost positive I can go through these forums and find a typo in almost every post. Yes I realize that I made a few typos in my post but I was just trying to prove a point. But anyways this is getting pointless.

Enough with the meaningless squabble over spelling and grammar. It's nothing but a waste of bandwidth. Although FYI, you have enough grammar errors in your post to make an grade 6 English teacher scream. Please learn when a thought ends and a new one begins. Your use of commas are excessive to say the least.
