Hi there! I have done a lot of searching on the website to find my answer but surprisingly I haven't found anything that touches the topic.  I am currently a Civilian Instructor (Volunteer / NOT CIC) for the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets and wanted to enroll in to the Canadian Forces. I wanted to ask a question regarding making a transition from CIC to CF through the ROTP program.

I have been volunteering as an Civilian Instructor for approximately 3 years and I was a former Sea Cadet. My Commanding Officer sees a great future for me at the Corps and would like me to get into uniform as soon as possible. Approximately one month ago I had submitted an application to become a CIC member of my corps. A good friend of mine has recently told me about the ROTP program that I was completely unaware about. I have become very interested in the program and all that it has to offer, such as a degree and a career which is what I thrive for.

My question is, if I would like to sign up for the ROTP will it take longer, faster or will it mess up my application. Keep in mind that I would like to continue my process as a CIC member in case I do not become a candidate for the ROTP program.

Thank You for taking the time to read.

Cheers, Louie :salute:

The ROTP campaign for beginning studies this Sept is basically over, so you would be applying for next year's program.  You may, if you wish, continue to pursue employment as a COATS officer, and request what is called a Component Transfer to the ROTP.  The staff at your corps and recruiting centre will assist you in this process.

It is wise to apply both to RMC (through the recruiting centre or detachment in your area), and to a civilian university of your choice, as there are of course a limited number of openings each year at RMC, and it is a highly competitive process.
