""This is an extraordinary development," said Dr. Kevin de Cock, director of the World Health Organization's AIDS department. "Circumcision is the most potent intervention in HIV prevention that has been described."

Am I the only one to see irony in that Doctor's name?

LoL
I'm sure he would roll his eyes at you and say: "I never heard that before" ;D

This is really old news actually.I had the "procedure" done a couple years back and that was in my little pamphlet.

Wear a condom,as the cutting of genitalia is not the most fun I've ever had.I cried,I puked I did it all.

Not wearing any pants for two weeks was kinda neat though.Sort of like saturday morning all week. ;)

TOO MUCH INFO!!!!!!!!!!

Don't everybody do that....no?Just me eh.
I had my wife coinvinced it was normal....her friends she has over in the mornings were also getting quite use to it. ;D

.....  the news story hast to be taken out of context.  Condoms are more effective than 60%.  Much more reliable.

http://www.cbc.ca/health/story/2006/08/17/male-circumcision.html

"Adult male circumcision could prevent millions of new HIV infections in sub-Saharan Africa, but circumcised men should not cease practising safe sex, researchers told the International AIDS Conference in Toronto on Thursday."

The circumcision may reduce the risk of the male getting infected,  but it appears to do nothing for the female.  I don't care if one is circumcised or not,  a condom is the  sensible and responsible thing to do.

eh...had it done 43+years ago, so don't know what I'm missing (pun intended); happily married (niner has huge brothers all over this great country of ours - keeps me on the straight and narrow; plus too old to go chasing)  :boring:

Jerry helmet or ant-eater? Being circ'd can save your life, ha!

To 'clip' or not to 'clip', that is the question.

Now these days, some say its barbaric, well others say its better for heath reasons, etc.

If I had a son, it would be done. No if ands or buts.... or in this case foreskins, ha!

I don't remember mine, and I am sure I must have bled, screamed and cried (as you would), but thanks Dad!

I aint missing anything, oh wait I guess I am. between that and my tonsills removed (at age 38) thats the only thing I am shy of...

;D

Cheers,

Wes

It is also apparently easier to put a condom on properly over a circumcised penis then a non-c one.

Also decreasing the risk for STDs.

If used correctly.  The same as birth control pills are 99% effective, if used correctly.  I'd be willing to bet that a large percentage of the population uses neither one in the correct manner.  But as SMMT said, it also decreases risk of other STDs (actually, we're back to calling them STIs now  ::)) and other infections.
Using a condom is still not 100% but better than using none.

OK, this thread has gone way OT.  >:D

Back to the original question:  Was I the only one to find that doctor's name ironic? :warstory:

Apparently so!!  ;) Just kidding, yes, it was pretty good.

As I always say - "off like a judaic prepuce".  You may have to google to break some of the code.  And yes vG, it is extremely ironic - kind of makes me wonder the validity of the whole  thing.  In fact, if it came out closer to April, I'd be sure of it.

Wes I said the same thing, until I had a son.And the doctor asked if we wanted it done.Looked at the poor bugger and couldn't bring myself to do it.I was put under, they said they would use a numbing agent on him...I cringed and said no.
