Clearing out of the NCR

Hi guys,

Like most people posted out in the NCR, my COS date is Jul 16.

I have annual leave from the end June to 1st week in July, then the 5 days relocation leave. When will be a good date to start clearing out of my unit and the NDHQ?

I ask because It's my 1st stint in Ottawa and don't know how much stuff there is to clear at NDHQ and other places

Outside of your unit you should only have to visit the CFSU(O) orderly room at 101 5NT and your mess. If you make an appointment, you will be done in less than an hour.

I don't even think you need an appointment (I didn't in 2010).  You start at MPSS do some things there, go down to the ident section to turn in your building pass, then back up to finish.  They even do the mess there for you now (NPF section is right there).  No clothing stores, hospital, nothing.  It was the most painless (base) outclearance ever. 

My unit, however...ugh.  Outclearing my unit took 5 times longer than outclearing CFSU(O), including up to 4 trips back to various cubes to outclear someone who didn't care one way or the other that I was leaving.  Seriously, an 8x14 sheet of paper, both sides full of people to sign off.  Talk about a study in contrasts.

You don't need one, but you can make one to avoid waiting or if you want to go at a specific time.

They even do the mess there for you now (NPF section is right there).

When i cleared in last October, they told me that had ceased and i had to go to the mess. Has this changed again ? (i'm posted again this summer so will have to clear out)

Who knows what the deal is this week.  I phoned to make an appointment to outclear and they told me not to bother, just come on in.  I started at the counter, waited maybe 10 minutes to see a clerk.

I arrived in the NCR in 07, left in 10.  I incleared at the mess, but outcleared the mess at 101 Col By.  I know the whole process changed between 2007 and 2010 - no idea where people were inclearing the mess in 2010, but they walked me to another area behind the clerks to outclear NPF.  Perhaps you need to inclear the correct mess, but outclearance can be done at 101? Or, they've changed it again.

The system was slick when I outcleared.  Why would they mess with something that worked  ???
