I know the Full Time Application Process but not the reserve
I live in Sudbury, Ont.
Question about the reserves!! I currently have a Full-Time Job but want to join the reserves! Do I have to quit my current job???
I know my boss is flexible and would give me the time off for my reserve commitment; be it a weekend, a week or even 2 months.
Could someone let me know??
I have to take the time off from work to visit the rec.center. which I will do sometime soon!

Would like some input online. THANKS!

No, you don't have to quit your current job.

The training is Durring the summer months, so if your boss gives you the 2 months off, you are OK.
You also have the option, at least for BMQ, to do your training on weekends for a few months.
Other than that, you will need the parade night every week(It's Thursday up here), and one weekend a month off for training.

I hope that helps a little.

There are many other threads dealing with the issue, do a search, and you will most likely get the information that you are after.

Your boss will give you up to two months off? Cool.

As ToRN said, no you don't have to quit your job to join the reserves.

Your BOSS does not have to give you the time off!!!!!!!!
What Torn said was "IF YOUR BOSS GIVES YOU THE TIME OFF!"

We reservists rely on the good will of our respective employers for time off as there is no Legislation in Canada demanding a emlpoyer to release you for Military Service.

The more notification you give your employer for time off the easier it is for both of you and nine times out of ten you will most proberly get the time off,so all future Reservists remember that little point.

Hope it helps.

Thanks, Earl

But I think he meant something along the lines of: "wow, your boss is willing to give you(maphewz) the time off"

I had to look at it a couple times before I figured it out too, but I think that was what he meant.

But what Earl says is true, it's up to your boss wether or not he wants to let you go.

Cheers

maphewz asid in his first post "I know my boss is flexible and would give me the time off for my reserve commitment; be it a weekend, a week or even 2 months."

I was commenting that his boss is really considerate, since not every boss is that flexable, or that willing to give time off.

Anyone in the Sudbury, Ont. Reserves?
:salute:

I want to know how the schedule works out to be?

Can anyone let me know how a Typical Thursday night or a Weekend session. I can't find anything within the msg boards.

Thanks
