I remember a certain Ottawa based reserve Regiment being oh-so impressed with the then plain old Mr Black in some honourary capacity back in the late 90's. He was simply a thieving scumbag then, I suspect he got the toss when he renounced his Canadian citizenship?? Mind you we still persist with the quaint notion of placing Brits, especially Royal ones, some with little or no military experience in similar positions.

Not to be ignorant, but could you name one.

not necessarily in Canada but, there was Princess Michael of Kent.  Was an honorary of the Prince of Wales Regiment of Yorkshire = the new 1st Bn The Yorkshire Regiment.

She is famous for putting her royal foot in it. But even by the standards of the Windsor family's most erratic member, Princess Michael of Kent's pronouncements are likely to provoke a sharp intake of breath around the Buckingham Palace breakfast table.
In 2005, during a chat with a German newspaper conducted over toast and hot chocolate in her Kensington apartment, the princess defended Prince Harry over his Nazi fancy dress, appeared to bemoan breeding between the classes and revealed that the Queen's party piece is her mock cockney accent.

The portrait of Sir Tubby at the rpesentation of new colours still hangs proudly in the Footguards' mess.  Or at least it did a year ago...

Edward Mountbatten-Windsor comes to mind. Was  he not the one who quit the Royal Marines. OK fine, I just have a slight problem when he resurfaces twenty some odd years later as Colonel in Chief of a number of Canadian Regiments, two I believe are the Hasty Pees and the PEIR. Big deal, find a Canadian Edward.

I was their QM and can best describe the representation as "bloated".
