PETA has placed rogue agents in Calgary to sabotage the Calgary Stampede. Their agents have been into the horse barns and doctoring the feed and injecting horses with drugs so as to cause their deaths through apparent natural causes, or to incapacitate them in their performance during Stampede events, causing serious injury or death.
To date, six horses have died at the 2010 Calgary Stampede. An extremely large number for such an event and never seen in such numbers before. With stricter guidelines in the treatment of animals at these events, this is a very unusual occurrence.
PETA has made neither confirmed, nor denied, their activities in this matter, other than to condemn the use of animals in Stampede events.
