I‘m currently a reservist and I just put in my application for reg force. I was wondering how much of my time in the reserves will count towards my corporal. All of it? half? does it depend? Anyone have experience with this?
Your file will be reviewed by NDHQ before you receive yout offer to Component Transfer. In particular, they will consider the amount of full time (Class "B" or "C") periods of service you have. Ensure that your unit Orderly Room sent an up-to-date copy of your MPRR to the CFRC with your documents that shows all of your full-time employment periods. If you‘ve done more since the initial application, take a fresh copy the next time you drop in on the recruiters to say hello.
Not to hijack the topic, well maybe a little, but Franko do you think it‘s better to have the LAVs crewed (in a mech rifle company) by dragoons/ armored crewmen instead of Infantry soldiers? If so how come?
I always thought trying to co-ordinate between the two elements at such a small level would be a night mare.
But there is planning being done and it will come to pass one of these days. The idea is to have dedicated troops in the rear(infantry) and dedicated troops manning the vehicle proper(armour).
The idea of a completly intergrated unit of all arms has been kicked around for a while...to the point that we have been told about it during prayers about a year ago.
George Wallace can give a bit more of insight to such a ludicrus idea....
For the Americans I think both do, as they have an Actual Mech Inf trade. I can‘t say for sure, as my computer at work won‘t load their recruiting page, (stupid DND firewall, won‘t allow shockwave to be downloaded)
The US have the MOS code 11B, which is mechanized infantryman. I am not sure who mans the ACR‘s, I‘ll look around for when I got the time.
As for Armoured taking the LAVs, I like the idea...frees up both time and boots for more gruntwork.
I‘ve also seen the arguement bandied around that we combine the Armoured Corps and the Mech. Infantry side of the house into an Armoured Cavalry trade...kinda liked the idea myself.
